Second International Conference on Domestic Violence (06.12.2006)

In the framework of the Council of Europe’s pan-European campaign to combat violence against women, including domestic violence, 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence annual campaign and, following the 2004-2010 Republic of Armenia National Action Plan on Improving the Status of Women and Enhancing Their Role in Society, the Women's Rights Center, as the Secretariat of the International Consortium for Domestic Violence, with the financial support of the OSI East-East program, OSIAF-Armenia Network Women’s Program and Global Fund for Women on 4-6 December 2006 has organized the Second International Conference on Domestic Violence, which took place in Yerevan, Armenia.

Presentation of the Stop Violence against Women website (27.09.2006)

On September 27, 2006, presentation of the Stop Violence against Women website, Armenian National Home Page and National Hot Line took place in the town of Goris. The organizational support of the event was provided by Susanna Shahnazaryan, the Women’s Rights Center’s representative in the marz (province) of Syunik.

National Strategy and National Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Armenia (27.09.2006)

A workshop “National Strategy and National Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Armenia” took place on 19-20 October in Congress Hotel, Yerevan. Representatives of the RA Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Migration Agency, US Embassy in Armenia, UNDP, OSCE, UNHCR, UNICEF, UMCOR, as well as representatives of the NGOs (including the WRC) dealing with the issue of trafficking, took part in the workshop.

Armenia-Diaspora Conference III (20.09.2006)

On September 18-20 the Women’s Rights Center has participated in the exhibition, which took place in Karen Demirchian Complex in the framework of the Armenia-Diaspora Conference III. Participation in the exhibition enabled staff and volunteers of the Women’s Rights Center to present the organization and its activity to Armenians from the Diaspora and local residents, as well as to get acquainted with the activity of other organizations.

"The 5th Wheel" talk show (20.07.2006)

On July 20 a regular issue of “The 5th Wheel” talk show was aired by the Armenian Public Television. This issue of the talk show was dedicated to the problem of trafficking in persons. Representatives from the Women’s Rights Center, International Organization of Migration, UNDP, OSCE Armenian Office, Interagency Commission against Trafficking in Armenia, the RA Police, as well as other interested structures took part in the talk-show.

"Mout-ou-loos" Talk Show (27.06.2006)

A regular issue of “Mout-ou-lous” talk show, broadcast by H2 TV company, was shot on June 27. The issue was dedicated to the link between domestic violence and trafficking in women. Representatives of governmental structures (RA General Prosecutor’s Office, Interagency Commission against Trafficking in Armenia, RA Police) and NGOs working in the this field (the Women’s Rights Center, Hope and Help, UMCOR, Ajakits, Armenian Caritas) were among the participants of the talk-show.

Multiplier Effect Meeting at the Council of Europe Information Office (13.06.2006)

To promote the public awareness about Council of Europe work in the field of fight against trafficking in humans and establish a partnership for distribution of relevant Council of Europe documents and publications, the Council of Europe Information Office in Armenia (IOCE) organised one of its traditional multiplier effect meetings for the main NGOs active in anti-trafficking efforts in Armenia.

"Domestic violence" talk-show (30.05.2006)

Antenna NGO presents “Domestic violence” talk-show, broadcasted by “Radio Hay FM 104.1” radio station. The aim of the talk show is raising society awareness on the domestic violence and helping people, victims of violence. The program is to highlight the reasons of domestic violence, the psychological side of the problem.
