Participation in the “Opinion” radio program (14.07.2005)

Siran Kochinyan, head of Women’s Rights Center branch in the marz of Lori, was invited to participate in the “Opinion” radio program of “Radiointerkap” radio station on July 14, 2005.
The issues of domestic violence and trafficking in women were discussed during the meeting. S. Kochinyan presented the mission of the Women’s Rights Center, including the National Hotline, Crisis Center, and Emergency Shelter. She also mentioned types and reasons of violence against women, as well as its consequences.

A meeting with participation of the President of the Vayots Dzor Women’s local association, three pedagogues, two doctors and two housewives was organized by the initiative of H.Avagyan, the Women’s Rights Center Yeghegnadzor representative on 4 July, 2005.

Round table in Yeghegnadzor (17.06.2005)

On 17 June, 2005 Human Rights Protection Committee, Democracy Institute and Women’s local association of Vayots Dzor organized a round table in Yeghegnadzor. Representatives of NGOs, local state structures, as well as Women’s Rights Center Yeghegnadzor representative, representative of the Democracy Institute from the UK and the Mass Media participated in the event.

OSCE Office holds roundtable on national anti-trafficking policy in Armenia (15.06.2005)

As part of its ongoing efforts to address the problem of trafficking in humans, the OSCE Office in Yerevan hosts a roundtable discussion on the establishment of a National Referral Mechanism (NRM) in Armenia. NRMs are co-operative frameworks through which state actors fulfill their obligations to protect the human rights of trafficked persons in partnership with civil society.

A roundtable on a National Referral Mechanism, a formalized system of comprehensive rights-based anti-trafficking policies, and a discussion on development of a National Referral Mechanism in Armenia will take place on 15 June 2005 at Tigran Mets Hall of the Yerevan Marriott Hotel. The event is supported by the OSCE Office in Yerevan, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the US State Department.

Visit to the school #181 (27.05.2005)

Ts. Chragyan, the WRC lawyer, visited school #181 with the aim of acquainting the parents and the teaching staff with the activities of the WRC. Ms. Chragyan answered to the questions of the participants of the meeting and provided them with corresponding literature and leaflets.
