It is a great pleasure to inform that within the scope of Interagency Commission on Combating Gender-Based Violence the Working Group was formed aimed to elaborate the National Action Plan on Combating Gender-Based Violence 

 
WRC Services on Domestic Violence

National Domestic Violence Hot Line Service provides psychological assistance and legal advice to women-victims of domestic violence;

Women’s Support and Drop-in-Center provides psychological assistance and legal advice to victims of domestic violence;

Women’s Support Group meetings and Parenting Days provide women with an opportunity to realize their inner positive resources;

Emergency Shelter provides roof for the women and their children whose lives are in danger in their family;

Women’s Health Club provides an opportunity for women-victims to receive not only psychological, legal assistance but also to become aware about health care and body care methods through lectures, seminars, meetings;

Children Dance and Performance Group. 
 

For those who deny the existence of domestic violence in Armenia 

During 16 years of marriage, the beneficiary has been continuously subjected to psychological, physical and sexual violence. As a result, she had two miscarriages of pregnancy. Because of early birth, one child died. Read more...

She had run away from her husband’s house with her 2 younger daughters 6 months ago and was living in a basement of an inhabitant from the same community. The basement previously was served as a cattle shed. Read more...

We did it!!! Street action on domestic violence prevention
We did it!!! Street action on domestic violence prevention  After the activation of the regular 24-hourstoll-free hotline 0-800-80-850 Women's Rights Center organized a street actionin August, 26, in which the whole WRC staff took part. Women- passers werehanded out plastic bags, where National Hot Line numbers were written. Allwomen-victims who are being subjected to domestic violence can call and beprovided with free psychological and legal counseling.

"Domestic violence" subject is included in the curriculum of RA Police Academy
WRC presented an offer to RA Police Academy to include "Domestic violence" subject in their curriculum and to organize relevant trainings  for their specialists basing on "Domestic violence" manual elaborated by WRC and on August 05, 2010 got their accordance.

An interactive performance “Pages from the dog’s diary” in Vanadzor In August 01, 2010, Women’s Rights Center has organized an interactive performance called “Pages from the dog’s diary” in Vanadzor city of Lori Region.The performance was based on true stories of women-victims subjected to domestic violence and it expressed the current importance of that issue.

Training Manual on Domestic Violence for police servants is published WRC has elaborated a Training Manual on Domestic Violence for police servants, which observes the current situation of domestic violence issue in Armenia, its types, main consequences, specificities, reasons and the methods of prevention as well as it clarifies the role and interference of police servants in given situation. This manual is a tool for advocating and for raising awareness on domestic violence against women.

Children Folk Dance Ensemble of WRC Performance at “ErPi 2010”  Festival On May 24, the “ErPi 2010” traditional songs and dances festival dedicated to Alashkert traditional national culture took place at State Engineering University of Armenia. The best ensembles as well as the representatives of cultural song and dance, various groups and individual performers from different marzes and Yerevan participated in the festival.

Today, the Government of the Republic of Armenia has approved the provision of Gender Policy. Within six months period RA Government has obligated all interested Ministries to present to RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues the action plans for 2010-2015 on gender policy, which should be summerized within two months and introduce to RA Government.
