The 29th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers of Justice opened a forum for exchange of views on the issue of domestic violence and identify areas where further efforts are needed to tackle this problem in Europe.

RA Council’s Meeting on actions directed to improve the status of women in Armenia (08.05.2009)

On May 08, 2009 the Council on Women’s Affairs under the RA Government met with the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. The issue of concern was the implementation of the activities of the „National Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia for 2004–2010 on Improving the Status of Women and Enhancing Their Role in Society”.

On April 28, 2009 the Armenian National Committee of Canada organized a reception to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by House of Commons. A large number of Canadian politicians attended the event to reaffirm their commitment to justice and to express their unwavering solidarity with the Armenian people in their struggle to fend off Armenian Genocide denial.

On April 27, 2009 twenty participants from around the world gathered for ad hoc meeting in Ottawa, Canada to exchange views, ideas and experience in network development; identify and outline the steps needed for Network formalization as well as to set activities on which individuals and organizations will take a lead role in moving forward.

Children Dance and Performance Group as a music therapy for children of women-victims of domestic violence (01.04.2009)

By the support of the Public Affairs Section of US Embassy in Armenia Women’s Rights Center has organized a Children Dance and Performance Group to enable children of women-victims of domestic violence to restore emotional balance through music, performance, and art therapy.
