Women’s Rights Center has organized an Award Ceremony for individuals, partners and donors who have contributed in women’s and children’s rights protection in Armenia. The Ceremony took place in the Yerevan Chamber Music Hall after Komitas on November 29, dedicated to the Women’s Human Rights Defenders’ Day.
WRC staff welcomed the guests for the event being celebrated in the framework of “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” and expressed gratitude for their presence at the event.
The staff of Women’s Rights Center considered November 29 a very important and expected day since it created grounds for Women’s Rights Defenders to cast a look back, reconsider their work and report about their successes. Thus, by casting look back WRC staff could not forget to thank and express their deepest gratitude to the state structures, foundations and persons that had contributed to the protection of women’s and children’s rights and could lay a claim for the title of Women’s Rights Defenders. During the event WRC was pleased to express its deepest gratitude to all partners not only in words, which were definitely inseparable parts of that day’s evening, but also Women’s Rights Center considered it an honor to grant their friends with awards.
The following state structures, foundations and individuals were awarded for their continuous contribution in the protection of women’s and children’s rights: RA Police, RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues, RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation – Armenia, Women to Women Foundation, Embassy of the United States in Armenia, Gynuity Health Projects. Individuals Arsen Grigoryan, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia and Nani Oskanyan were also awarded with the prize.
During the second part of the event the Children’s Folk Group of Women’s Rights Center gave a concert, which was met with a storm of applauds by the audience. The formation of the Children’s Folk Group is being regarded by WRC as an additional tool in its strategy to combat violence against women, particularly domestic violence.
