The 1st WAVE Coordination Committee (CoCo) meeting took place in Vienna on 14th and 15th of December 2009 to intensify the co-ordination and planning for the WAVE Network and to ensure representation from all regions.

WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe) is a network of European women's non-governmental organizations working in the field of combating violence against women and children. The Network was set out to promote and strengthen the human rights of women and children in general and to prevent violence against women and children in particular.

WAVE Network members - representatives of women non-governmental organizations from Europe gathered in Vienna to discuss and define the goals and tasks of the CoCo meeting. The overall goal was to strengthen independent women’s NGOs working to eliminate and prevent gender-based violence against women and violence against their children and to improve the support for and protection of women survivors of violence.

During the Working Groups the participants discussed and identified priority issues to be dealt with in the WAVE Network as well as reflected on the aims, structure, resources, fundraising, projects to be set in the framework of the WAVE Network. Discussions on Network activities and future planning were also held on the second day of the meeting.
