2010 marks the 15th anniversary of the Beijing World Conference on Women. In recognition of this anniversary, an NGO Global Women’s Forum to consider implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA / Beijing+15) was organized in New York on February 27 & 28, 2010.

The Forum immediately preceded the 54th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, which also undertook a 15–year review and appraisal of the BPfA.

The Forum program included two full conference days commencing with an opening ceremony, and continuing with plenary sessions, panel discussions, and workshops.
Emphasis was placed on the sharing of experiences and good practices, with a view to overcoming remaining obstacles and new challenges, including those related to the Millennium Development Goals. Member States, representatives of non-governmental organizations and representatives of UN entities participated in the session. A series of parallel events provided additional opportunities for information exchange and networking.
