On May 24, the “ErPi 2010” traditional songs and dances festival dedicated to Alashkert traditional national culture took place at State Engineering University of Armenia.The best ensembles as well as the representatives of cultural song and dance, various groups and individual performers from different marzes and Yerevan participated in the festival. The festival aimed to maintain and spread Armenian traditional song, dance and folklore, as well as to discover new participants and encourage them to transfer the inherited national values from one generation to another. The Children Folk Dance and Performance Ensemble established and coordinated by Women’s rights center also took part in festival. The best solution for art therapy was decided to be an Armenian folk (dancing and singing). With this purpose in mind, Women’s rights center started formation of a group of children with musical skills and succeeded in forming the Children Folk Dance and Performance Ensemble, that consisting of children of domestic violence victims as well. The purpose they included is to commute the consequences of experienced stress and to stimulate the integration to the society process. The main goal to establish the ensemble is to teach national values to the children accordingly with the moral and aesthetic norms and to develop their creativity. Since 1979, at State Engineering University of Armenia the first song and dance festival had been organized and till now it became a tradition and took place per annum. The Festival of traditional song and dance is occurred to be the best school and facilitate the ethical self-awareness and patriotism and evaluating the national dignity and aimed to protect and transfer through generations Armenian ethnical roots, culture and art.
